What do an orchestra, a choir & a team have in common?
Let me give you my point of view and see if you agree. All instrumentalists, singers and athletes have their individual roles within their respective spheres and when each performs with selflessness, for the beauty of the music and the game no one single instrument, singer or athlete is more important. They decide and commit to forgo the desire to stand out, to look better than the group. Rather, they blend and work together “in concert” to the awe and amazement of those blessed to be watching and listening. They are willing to sacrifice what they could have for themselves individually for what is better for everyone. They surrender the me for the we! Resulting in a spectacle that is imprinted on the minds of all in attendance never to be forgotten.
Unison, concert, harmony & team all mean the coming together of individuals to accomplish something they couldn’t do alone. The old T E A M acronym Together Everyone Achieves More, as cliche as it sounds it’s TRUE!
Each individual singer, instrumentalist & athlete does his or her personal best while being committed to the betterment of the whole, the mission of the group, to play together. Focused on each note, each play, completely in the moment trusting in their preparation; knowing & trusting that each member is going to be there doing what they are capable of and suppose to be doing in that moment! This is TEAM PLAY this IS why music and sports are played!
