THE RING OF FOCUS

The ability to focus is a major skill in any type of performance. I want to share a quick exercise you can do that will  show how powerful the mind is when it is focused. I like to call it the “Ring of Focus.” Using your dominant hand make a circle with your thumb and index finger like the “OK” sign. Now have someone  try to break the circle. That should have been pretty easy for them which is not what you want.

So this time take a few calm breaths and close your eyes, make a circle again but this time imagine that your fingers are the steel ring in the picture above. When you have that image, tell yourself the ring is unbreakable! Focus all your attention and energy into that ring and have someone try to break it. What was the result? This is a great example of what the mind can do when we choose to focus on the right things. I want to make it clear that what you think about and how you think effects your ability to perform for the good and the bad! So choose to focus on the task at hand, be in the moment and give your self the best chance to succeed!
